What started as a single prime mover running the Sydney–Melbourne corridor has grown into one of Australia's most trusted linehaul and refrigerated transport companies — 120+ trucks, 280+ trailers, and a team of over 400 people who take pride in every load.

HB Trans was founded in 1998 by Harry Chahal, a former long-haul driver who knew there was a better way to run a transport business — one built on reliability, honesty, and genuine care for customers' freight. Starting with a single Kenworth and a handshake agreement with a Melbourne produce wholesaler, Harry built the business run by run.
By 2005, HB Trans had expanded to 20 vehicles and opened its first Melbourne depot. The refrigerated division launched in 2009, responding to growing demand from food manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies who needed a cold chain partner they could trust. Today, HB Trans operates from depots in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, covering every state and territory.

We know transport has an environmental footprint. That's why we're investing in Euro 6 prime movers, aerodynamic trailer packages, driver eco-training, and active trials of electric and hydrogen vehicles — because the road ahead has to be cleaner than the one behind us.
